Linden, May 31 – Fred Miller Shanklin, 56, funeral director here for 25 years and one of the best known residents of this community died at his home here Friday afternoon at 12:45 o’clock. He had been ill for the past two years with Bright‘s disease. Born Feb 19 1882 at Linden, he was the son of John and Martha White Shanklin.  His marriage to Mima Patton took place at Lindent Oct 20, 1912. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Curch at Linen. Mr. Shanklin had resided in this community all of his life. He was a member of an old pioneer Montgomery County family. For a time he was proprietor of a drug store here and at times was interested in other businesses.  At one time Mr. Shanklin served as Montgomery County Road Superintendent. Survivors include the iwfe and one daughter, Mary Shanklin. Funeral services were held at the Linden ME Church Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock with Rev. CM McClure and Rev. Albert Northup in charge. Burial was in the Linden cemetery. The body lay in state forone hour preceding the funeral services.
